I don't even know why there is a dispute between people who believe video games are influencing in a bad matter children and people who don't believe that. It's foolish. Every child is exposed in one way or another to at least one bad influence. You can blame your incapability of being a good parent on all sorts of things: anturage, video games, TV, school violence, etc. The child is going to end up "bad" only if you as a parent allow it.
