Description: The Cabbagetown Restaurant on the south-east corner of Parliament and Spruce St. is facing closure from members of the Old Cabbagetown Business Association (BIA). The BIA alleges that the restaurant is a waterhole for drunks, drug dealers and unsavory behavior and even spent $5000 for duty officers to zero in on the restaurant.
Restaurant owner Victor Jiang and The Ontario Coalition Against Poverty (OCAP) dispute the claim, arguing that the charges have more to do with the BIA's agenda to gentry the area and push poor people out.
